Intended learning outcomes (Knowledges, skills and competencies to be developed by the students)

Logistics Optimization has the following objectives:
- model and solve of logistics problems using linear progamming;
- solve otimization problems using the graphical method;
- use the simplex method to solve otimization problems;
- formulate the dual problem;
- execute sensitivity analysis;
- model and solve supply chains problems.

Syllabus

1. Optimization
Historical Evolution
Models of linear and integer mathematical programming: formalization
Relevance of the application of optimization to logistical problems
2. Linear mathematical programming models
- Formulation
- Graphical method Resolution
- Simplex Resolution
- Duality
- Sensitivity analysis
3. Formulation and resolution of logistical problems using linear mathematical programming
- Introduction at Excel Solver
- Formulation and resolution of case studies:
• Production Planing and Distribution
• Logistics Network Design
• Vehicle Routing Problem
4. Exact Versus Versus Heuristic Approaches

Assessment methodologies and evidences

Knowledge assessment consists of two components:
Continuous assessment (CA)
Participation in class and exercises resolution (ER)
Written test (T)

The required minimum classification to each component is 8 Values (8/20) and the minimum average should be 9.5 values (9.5/20)

Final Classification = 60% Written Test + 40% (ER)

In the case of classification bellow of 9.5 Values, the student has to be submitted for Final Exam
